Coastway Exotic Pets

Most vets don't even know what a bearded dragon is - Guy at the Portslade surgery explained mine wasn't feeding because he was due to shed his skin. He was right! Sam Wilkins, Hove

Special care for unusual pets
If you thought a guinea pig was an ordinary pet to own then think again - it's an exotic pet along with reptiles, many rabbits, insects and birds. Exotics pets are considered to be anything that is not native to the UK. Not all veterinary surgeries have the skill to treat exotics but at Coastway we are lucky to have several vets with special interests in exotic pets.

Exotic Pets Club
Many of the problems that bring exotic pets to see a vet are caused by an incorrect diet or by being kept in the wrong habitat or environment. To help new and existing owners to better care for their unusual pets from day one, we have introduced an exotics club. The club is free to join and will be held at our Portslade Surgery, at Carlton Terrace, on Boundary Road, once every two months. The topic for each meeting will vary according to your needs, so if we have a lot of interest one month from reptile owners then we'll hold an evening tailored for them to answer general questions as well as addressing any specific problems that individuals may have come across.

To find out about joining the exotics club speak to the receptionist at the Portslade surgery by calling 01273 426100.
