Who we are
When we first opened our doors in 1974, we were a one-branch operation with just two vets! Today, we have a large, highly experienced team, a 24-hour veterinary hospital and five local branches.
Animal welfare is at the heart of what we do, and we strive to keep up with the latest developments in our profession to ensure that we’re continually bringing our community up-to-date, modern veterinary care.

24-hour support
We run our own 24-hour Vetcall emergency service from our hospital in Freshfield Way, Brighton, available to our clients and other local veterinary practices.

Services
Alongside the routine services your pet might need, our hospital offers services for exotic pets, many surgeries (including keyhole spays), CT scans, acupuncture, laser therapy and more.

Referrals & second-opinion
We also run a wide-ranging referral service, carrying out work such as orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, ophthalmology, behavioural and more in collaboration with referring veterinary surgeons.

Facilities
Our modern facilities include separate wards and waiting rooms for cats, dogs, and exotics. We also offer an in-house laboratory, along with extensive diagnostic and hospitalisation facilities.

Going that extra mile for our patients
Our Brighton hospital holds Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund gold-standard status, an achievement we’re really proud of, which demonstrates our high standards of rabbit care and the many rabbit-friendly features our service offers.
Our Shoreham branch has achieved silver-level Cat Friendly Clinic status, recognising the extra steps we’ve taken to adapt our facilities, services and handling of cats to provide a better experience for our feline patients.
Caring for our community
Giving back to the East Sussex community
We love being close to the vibrant beach city of Brighton, and regularly support local events, dog shows and charities.
Our team is incredibly diverse, in terms of our backgrounds, experiences and cultures. This diversity not only enhances how we function as a team, but also makes our practice an enjoyable and dynamic place to be!
Protecting our environment
We also work closely with East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service (WRAS), Sompting Wildlife Rescue, and RSPCA, supporting them however we can, and strive to protect our environment by recycling and limiting the use of disposable materials where possible. You can read our full environmental policy here.
Whatever your situation, you can trust that your pets and patients will be in safe hands with the compassionate, knowledgeable Coastway team.
