Based in and around the vibrant beach city of Brighton, our first-opinion and referral veterinary practice has been supporting local clients and their pets for many years.

Our clinical teams run regular lunch and learn sessions, and we encourage and fund further qualifications and certificates.
Well equipped surgeries
We’re fortunate to have high quality facilities across our veterinary hospital in Brighton and branches in Lewes, Portslade, Shoreham, Telscombe and Woodingdean.
These include our CT scanner, ultrasound machines, endoscopes, hospitalisation and ventilation equipment and in-house laboratory for diagnostic testing and wet biochemistry.

Looking for a community-based role with the support, expertise and energy of a larger practice?
Coastway Veterinary Group are looking to welcome a new member to our fabulous team to work across two of our lovely branches in East Sussex.
We’re a large, RCVS accredited practice boasting 5 fully equipped branch practices plus our large central Brighton hospital. We also run the region’s biggest emergency vet service.
Coastway Vets has been providing outstanding care to the region’s pets for 45 years and our fantastic team of passionate professionals is dedicated to excellence in veterinary medicine.
The Role:
We’re offering a full-time position (with flexible working considered) split between our Lewes and Woodingdean branches, situated only 8 miles apart.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident vet with excellent communication skills and the experience to run a branch independently. You’ll have the chance to shape and grow our client base while enjoying the backing of a larger, collaborative veterinary group.
This role provides variety, autonomy and is ideal for a vet who enjoys providing a warm, personal service and building strong client relationships.
** Salary – up to £60,000 dependent on experience**
Your Week at a Glance:
- 2–3 days at our Lewes branch – consulting and some routine operations
- 2–3 mornings at our Woodingdean branch – consulting only
- Every other Saturday morning at our Lewes branch
- 1:15 second on-call rota to support our night and weekend team
At both branches you will have sole charge and manage your own cases, offering independence but with the reassurance of a friendly wider team and support from our Brighton hospital when needed.

We’re seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join our warm, supportive team at our RCVS‑accredited Brighton Veterinary Hospital, working across an exciting 50/50 caseload of exotics/ cats and dogs.
About Us
For 45 years, Coastway Vets has been committed to delivering exceptional clinical care to pets across the region. Our central Brighton hospital is complemented by five fully equipped branches, and we also provide out‑of‑hours services for several neighbouring practices.
Our established specialised exotic department benefits from a dedicated ward and an experienced, highly skilled nursing team. The hospital is purpose‑designed and equipped with advanced diagnostic and surgical technology, including CT, ultrasound, digital x‑ray, laparoscopy, rigid and flexible endoscopy, and a fully equipped in‑house laboratory. Separate wards for cats, dogs, exotics, isolation and day procedures help us maintain excellent standards across all species.
Our team includes multiple certificate holders covering a broad range of clinical interests, from orthopaedics and ophthalmology to advanced imaging and exotics. With both day and out‑of‑hours teams working closely together, we foster a strong culture of professional development, offering extensive in‑house and external CPD opportunities.
What’s it really like to be part of our exotics team? Here’s how one of our vets summed it up:
The exotics team is full of strong, smart individuals who make up an even stronger, largely autonomous team within the hospital. There is a true culture of improvement both within ourselves, but also a desire to teach each other help each other grow. We laugh together, cry together, but we’ve all made genuine friendships that extend into outside of work. The comforting nature of our team allows people to come out of their shell and find who they are. We find that the vets feel really supported by their nurses, and vice-versa. We have a close relationship with the community as well in our work with local wildlife groups which can bring a stronger sense of purpose. Overall, it really is a good place to work, the veterinary industry can be full of challenges but having such a supportive and good-natured team around you makes all the difference.

- Full-time over 4 days/week – 2 days per week at our Brighton Hospital and 2 days per week at our Portslade & Shoreham branches (this will also include holiday cover for the branch sites)
- 1:4 weekends at the branch sites
- 1:15 2nd on call weeks
This position provides an excellent balance of hospital and branch work.
You’ll enjoy a diverse hospital caseload, ranging from emergencies to more advanced medical cases referred from our five branches and the neighbouring practices we support.
At branch level, you’ll work at the heart of the local community, building strong client relationships. The role includes periods of sole charge (weekends only), allowing you to manage your own consultations and routine surgeries, while still having the support of our friendly team and the clinical backup of our Brighton hospital whenever needed.
We’re seeking an approachable, confident, and team‑orientated Veterinary Surgeon with exceptional communication skills. You’ll be committed to delivering high‑quality client service and applying contextualised care.
