Based in and around the vibrant beach city of Brighton, our first-opinion and referral veterinary practice has been supporting local clients and their pets for many years.

Our clinical teams run regular lunch and learn sessions, and we encourage and fund further qualifications and certificates.
Well equipped surgeries
We’re fortunate to have high quality facilities across our veterinary hospital in Brighton and branches in Lewes, Portslade, Shoreham, Telscombe and Woodingdean.
These include our CT scanner, ultrasound machines, endoscopes, hospitalisation and ventilation equipment and in-house laboratory for diagnostic testing and wet biochemistry.

Look no further! We are thrilled to announce an opening for a dedicated RVN to join our dynamic team at our 24-hour hospital.
About us:
Coastway Vets has been providing outstanding care to the region’s pets for 45 years and our fantastic team of passionate professionals is dedicated to excellence in veterinary medicine. We have our large central Brighton hospital, plus 5 fully equipped branch practices and cover OOH for multiple other practices in the Brighton area.
The caseload will be varied, with both emergency and advanced medical cases referred to us from our five branch practices and local practices that we support.
Our purpose-built hospital has a range of high-tech equipment including CT scan, ultrasound, digital x-ray, laparoscopy, rigid and flexible endoscopy, and a fully equipped in-house laboratory. We have dedicated cat, dog, exotic, isolation, and day procedure wards, with a fantastic nurse and support team to work alongside.
We have multiple certificate holders and team members with a huge range of clinical interests and expertise, including referral services for orthopaedics, ophthalmology, advanced imaging, and exotics. We run a full out-of-hours team alongside our day team at the hospital. We are committed to continuing the further development of our team members, with ample opportunity for learning and development through dedicated in-house and external CPD.

About the role:

- Full-time, 4 days a week
- 1:8 Weekends and Monday off in-lieu
- Inhouse OOH team to handover to
The Area:
Our hospital is only a short walk from the town or equally you can enjoy a stroll along the sea front. Situated in a beautiful part of the country Brighton is well-known for being welcoming and diverse with a passion for culture, creativity and sustainability as well as for its historic landmarks. The South Downs National Park is close by and there really is something for everyone to enjoy in their free time!
There are great travel links with London only a one-hour train journey away and proximity to Gatwick airport.
Our ideal candidate would be….
- Someone who is experienced in a hospital environment and is confident managing a range of medical and surgical cases.
- Has excellent nursing and communication skills and demonstrates a keen interest to drive standards and support and develop a team
- Has a passion for animal welfare and a commitment to providing high-quality care to pets and their owners
- Demonstrates strong organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure and can prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Possesses a high degree of attention to detail
- Has a commitment to ongoing professional development
Our fantastic range of benefits includes:
- Salary – £31,000 – £34,000 depending on experience

About the role:
- Greet clients and visitors to the Practice in a friendly and helpful manner and provide high levels of customer care.
- Ensure client areas such as waiting room/bathroom are always clean and tidy.
- Answer the telephone promptly in accordance with Practice protocols. Directing calls to the appropriate department and person, taking detailed messages as required and ensure messages are passed to the appropriate person in a timely manner.
- Make appointments and hospital bookings for clients according to practice policies.
- Ensure clients leave with medication prescribed and understand how and when to use this.
- Take payments from clients in accordance with Practice policy.
- To ensure provision of required documentation for consultations sessions such as client histories from other veterinary practices.
- To audit and maintain patient records.
- Liaise with dispensary staff regarding stock taking and replenishing drug and food stock.
- Process client orders in accordance with Practice policy.
- Process monthly vaccination reminders and client invoices.
- Develop a comprehensive knowledge of, charity account administration procedures and protocols.
- Update client communications as required.
- Deal with incoming and outgoing post and emails on a daily basis.
- Cashing up and reconciliation according to practice procedure.
- Undertake CPD and training as required.
- Ensure own safety, and the safety of others who may be affected by your actions
- Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required of you in the post.
- Proactive approach to supporting colleagues in training.
