Run from our state-of-the-art Kemp Town surgery, our Feline Clinic is headed by Elise Robertson BS BVetMed MACVSc (Feline Medicine) DipABVP MRCVS.
Elise is an internationally recognised feline specialist. She is one of only three veterinarians in Europe with an American diploma in feline medicine from the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. As well as her referral service, Elise is a European tutor for the International Society of Feline Medicine/University of Sydney Centre for Veterinary Education, a European examiner for ANZCVSc certificate candidates, and a mentor for ABVP diploma candidates.
Our Consultation Service
Feline cases can be a challenging aspect of clinical companion animal work, especially those that resist a predictable outcome. Our consultations last anywhere from 45 to 60 minutes allowing full discussion of the patient's history, response to previous treatments, and a full physical examination. This longer than average consultation also allows the cat to adjust to its surroundings and to discuss differential diagnoses and investigations required for a diagnosis. Elise’s investigations and treatment plans are individually tailored for each patient. Following the consultation a detailed report is sent promptly to the referring veterinary surgeon and case progress is monitored during re-examination consultations.
Veterinary endoscopy services are becoming increasingly popular amongst small animal clinicians. As a minimally invasive procedure, endoscopy is a reliable option for looking inside hollow organs to help diagnose and treat disease. It is also useful for removing foreign bodies and obtaining tissue samples. It can significantly reduce the risk of long general anaesthetics as well as pain and discomfort from large surgical incisions.
Elise has received extensive training in Endoscopy and Minimally Invasive Surgery by attending both Intensive and Advanced Endoscopy and Endosurgery courses from the European School of Advanced Veterinary Studies at the University of Luxembourg. She has also trained with other veterinary and human surgeons at Covidien's European Endoscopy Training Centre in Paris. Elise uniquely offers video enabled gastroduodenoscopy, bronchoscopy, flexible and rigid rhinoscopy, cystoscopy, otoendoscopy, and laparoscopic ('key hole') surgery. These techniques can greatly aid in diagnosing various gastrointestinal, lower and upper respiratory, urinary, ear diseases and allow for minimally invasive abdominal exploration and biopsy collection. These techniques mean that recovery times are considerably reduced.
